Welcome Back!
|
Dear Dr. Roberta Bondar School Families, Welcome back! We are so pleased to welcome our students and families back to Dr. Roberta Bondar School! Our staff have been working hard to prepare the school and classrooms, and we are excited to see our students and begin another wonderful year of learning together. Your Child’s Teacher – Email Friday at 2:30 p.m.On Friday at 2:30 p.m., you will receive an email from your child’s teacher welcoming your child to their classroom and to our school community. The email will let you know your child’s teacher and will include important information for the first day of school. If you do not receive an email, please contact the school office. If you are unable to connect with us before Monday, please still attend school on Monday. Look for a staff member holding a star-shaped balloon who will be happy to help you find your child’s teacher and meeting location. First Day – Where to Meet Your TeacherTo help make our first morning organized and welcoming, we will have designated meeting areas on the school field for each grade level. Look for a chair with a numbered balloon identifying each grade level. Please have your child go to their designated grade area to meet their teacher. Each teacher will also be holding a coloured balloon so students and families can easily identify them. Your child’s welcome email on Friday will let you know the colour of their teacher’s balloon to look for. Our staff will be outside and available to help, so please don't hesitate to ask if you are unsure where to go. A Note About Class PlacementsAs we begin the school year, please remember that class lists are fluid. We work very hard to create balanced classes and thoughtful placements for all of our students; however, enrolment numbers can fluctuate considerably during September. Although we do our very best to get placements right from the beginning, we may need to make some adjustments as September progresses. Maintaining balanced classes is important in providing the best possible learning environment for all of our students. If changes become necessary, we will communicate with affected families and work together to determine what is best for all learners. Parking & Student SafetyThe first morning of school is always particularly busy. We ask everyone to please be patient and mindful of parking and traffic around the school. Please do not enter or park in the staff parking lot or the bus loop. Keeping these areas clear is important for the safe arrival of staff, students and school buses. Whenever possible, we encourage families to walk to school or park a short distance away and walk the final block or two. A little extra time and patience on our first morning will help us ensure a safe and positive start for everyone. Save the Date – Meet the Teacher NightPlease mark your calendars for our Meet the Teacher Night on September 10. We look forward to welcoming families into the school, introducing you to our staff and classrooms, and sharing more about the learning ahead. We know the beginning of a new school year brings lots of excitement—and sometimes a few butterflies too! Our goal is to make the transition as smooth and welcoming as possible for every student. If you have any questions or concerns as we begin the year, please reach out. We are always happy to help. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday and to another wonderful year of Inquiring, Innovating, Inspiring and Imagining together! Warmly, Evelyne Lamontagne |
