Dear Families,

As we move into the final days of September and look ahead to a busy October, we wanted to share some important dates and information with our families.

Orange Shirt Day – September 29

On Tuesday, September 29, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange as we continue to learn about the history and experiences of Indigenous Peoples and reflect on the importance of truth, reconciliation, and our shared responsibility to ensure that every child matters.

Please remember that there will be no school on Wednesday, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Our fall interview dates are approaching, and we will be offering families both online and in-person options.

October 9 – IPP Interviews
The afternoon of October 9 will be reserved for IPP interviews by teacher invitation. Families who require an IPP meeting will receive information directly from their child’s teacher.

October 16 – Online Interviews
Families who prefer to meet virtually will be able to book an online interview with their child’s teacher.

October 23 – In-Person Interviews
In-person interviews will be held at the school on October 23.

Due to our class sizes and the amount of interview time available, we are able to offer one interview per family for each child. If more than one parent, guardian, or family member would like to participate, we ask that families please coordinate so that everyone who needs to attend can participate in the same scheduled interview.

Booking for the October 16 online interviews and October 23 in-person interviews will open on October 9 at 4:00 p.m. Families can book their appointment through their MyCBE account.

If you would also like an opportunity to speak with one of our specialist teachers, please let us know. A limited number of interview times will be available with specialist teachers as well.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to provide as many families as possible with an opportunity to connect with teachers.

Hug n Go:
The daily morning Hug n Go drop off service is available only on days where our parent volunteers are able to work a shift.  We are currently short of Hug n Go parent volunteers this year.

Hug n Go is a valuable service that helps keep morning vehicle traffic organized and our kids safe.  Hug n Go shifts are about 15 min long.  If you are interested in volunteering to work a shift or volunteer as the Hug n Go Coordinator, please contact drbsvolunteers@gmail.com

Jacket Racket Campaign Coming in October
DRBS is excited to once again participate in the Jacket Racket campaign this year.  For the month of October, there will be a donation box located in the Launch Pad to collect new or lightly used winter jackets, snow pants, toques, mittens and neck warmers.

Thanks to the collection of donations from 50 + schools and businesses in 2025, Jacket Racket was able to provide warm winter wear to just over 2000 students in 100 + schools across the city.

Let's help do it again this year!

If you have questions or would like to help out with Jacket Racket please contact drbsvolunteers@gmail.com
