Dear Families,

October is here, and we have a busy month ahead at Dr. Roberta Bondar School! Please take a few moments to review the reminders and upcoming dates below.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Interview booking will open on Friday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. for both our online and in-person interview dates.

Due to the number of students in our classes and the time available, we are able to offer one interview slot per family. If more than one parent or caregiver would like to participate, please coordinate so that everyone can attend the same scheduled interview.

Friday, October 9 – IPP Meetings by Teacher Invitation
IPP meetings will take place by teacher invitation. Your child’s classroom teacher will contact you directly if you are required to attend a meeting.

Friday, October 16 – Online Parent-Teacher Interviews

Friday, October 23 – In-Person Parent-Teacher Interviews (Afternoon)

Pack In, Pack Out

A reminder that Dr. Roberta Bondar School is a Pack In, Pack Out school. We ask students to bring home the garbage and packaging that comes with their lunch, including wrappers and other waste.

This small action helps us reduce the amount of garbage and recycling produced at school and, importantly, helps us avoid attracting unwanted critters. Thank you for helping us keep our school and grounds clean!

Hug n Go:

The daily morning Hug n Go drop off service is available only on days where our parent volunteers are able to work a shift. We are currently short of Hug n Go parent volunteers this year.

Hug n Go is a valuable service that helps keeps morning vehicle traffic organized and our kids safe. Hug n Go shifts are about 20 min long and are most efficient when there are 3 parents working the shift. If you are interested in volunteering to work a shift or volunteer as the Hug n Go Coordinator, please contact drbsvolunteers@gmail.com

Jacket Racket Coat Drive

DRBS is proud to once again participate in the Jacket Racket coat drive campaign this year. As you are revisiting your closets this fall, please keep this in mind.

For the month of October, a donation box will be located in the Launch Pad to collect new or gently used outer winter wear such as winter coats, snowpants, toques, mittens and neck warmers. School aged children, youth and adult sizes are all accepted.

Thanks to your generosity and support, the Jacket Racket program will be able to distribute these items to the many students across the city who are in need of warm winter wear this year.

If you have any questions or would like to help out, please contact drbsvolunteers@gmail.com

School Council Meeting
Our next School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday Oct 13, at 6:45pm. All are welcome to attend! The meeting will take place at the school, or you can join virtually.
