Hello Families,

It is hard to believe we are already into June with only a few weeks remaining in the school year! There is lots happening around the school, so please take note of the updates and reminders below.

Important Reminders

Bike Safety Reminder
We had a few close calls last week, so this is an important reminder that bikes should not be ridden in the parking lot or on the playground before or after school. Thank you for helping us keep all students, families, and staff safe.

Owl’s Nest Book Fair This Week
The Owl’s Nest Book Fair is here this week! This is a great opportunity to stock up on summer reading and help encourage a love of books throughout the summer months.

Class Placements for Next Year
At this time of year, students and families often begin wondering about next year’s teachers and class placements. Please know that staff put significant time, thought, and care into creating balanced classes that best support student learning and success. As part of this process, we do not accept requests for teachers or classmates.

Book Fair Volunteers

The Owl’s Nest Book Fair is coming to DRBS, and we’re once again looking for volunteers to help make it a success! With every Owl’s Nest Book Fair, 20% of all sales earned goes back to the school in product rewards that can be used to purchase new school resources. Even better, those rewards stretch further because school orders also receive an additional 20% discount.

From now until June 12th, families are also welcome to order online through Owl’s Nest Books using the promo code BONDAR to ensure purchases count toward our book fair total. Owl’s Nest provides free delivery to homes within the city of Calgary. Please note that no additional discounts are offered during the fair, as discounts would reduce the funds earned for our school.

Thanks to the support of our amazing volunteers and families, our Scholastic Spring book fair raised $4,500 toward new library resources for the school. Thank you to everyone who helped make that possible! We look forward to another wonderful and successful book fair this year.

Volunteer Positions Available:
Set up and tear down volunteers.  Duties: This will be led by our wonderful librarian, Roxanne. (No Police Clearance is required for these positions)

Book Sale Volunteers. Duties:  Assisting students,  organizing and restocking book displays. (No Police Clearance is required for these positions)

Grade 6 Baby Photos

We’re extending the baby photo submission deadline to June 12!
This is one of the most fun yearbook pages — a chance for our graduates to look back at their adorable baby days and see how much they’ve grown into the awesome students they are today.

Please email one photo of your child to drbsyearbook@gmail.com, and be sure to include your child’s name and their teacher's name in the email.

Stay tuned for the link to order your copy of the yearbook, which will be available soon. Thank you for your participation!
