We would love to welcome families to our first School Council meeting of the school year! School Council is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families, share ideas, and be part of the work that makes DRBS such a special community. We hope you can join us!
📅 Looking Ahead
September 24 – Terry Fox Run
We will come together as a school community to participate in the Terry Fox Run and celebrate Terry's incredible legacy of courage, determination, and hope.
September 25 – Professional Development Day
There is no school for students.
September 29 – Orange Shirt Day
We will spend time learning and reflecting together as we recognize Orange Shirt Day and the importance of truth, reconciliation, belonging, and the message that Every Child Matters.
September 30 – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
There is no school for students.

Volunteer Opportunity – Help Our Teachers!
Looking for an easy way to lend a hand at school? We’re looking for volunteers to help prepare classroom materials for our teachers. Tasks may include photocopying, cutting, laminating, folding etc.
No experience or police clearance required — just come to the staff room and we’ll show you what to do!

First School Council Meeting
Our first School Council meeting will be held on Tuesday Sept 15, at 6:45pm. All are welcome to attend! The meeting will take place at the school, or you can join virtually: https://meet.google.com/tri-ntnz-vca
The following council positions are currently vacant. Contact Chris at DRBSCouncilChair@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering for one of the positions or would like more information.
- Secretary - attends all meetings and records minutes, which are then published to the school community. This is a key position that we need to fill.
- Fun Lunch Co-Coordinator - shadow the current Fun Lunch Coordinator with the intent to take over for 2027-2028. Assist in arranging vendors and volunteers for Fun Lunch.
- Special Events Coordinator - help plan fun events throughout the year, such as the Halloween Dance and Movie Night.
- Hug n’ Go Coordinator - coordinates Hug & Go volunteers. The Hug & Go service was established by parent volunteers in 2017. The purpose of Hug & Go is to create a standard process for drivers to safely unload students at the school, morning only, no kindergarten.
