Week - At - A – Glance

September 8 – 12, 2025

What a great first week! Looking forward to many more.

A few reminders:

  • As per provincial legislation last year no personal devices are allowed to be used at school. “Away for the Day” means all smart watches, phones and any other device must not be worn at school. Students can place the device in their backpack, however, this could be a risk for damage or to go missing which will be the responsibility of the student not the teacher. The best advice is to leave devices at home.
  • We are a pack in – pack out school so all wrappers, containers and left over food will be coming home with your child at the end of the day
  • Please support us by parking in an appropriate place. The bus loop and staff parking lot are no parking zones, and no parent vehicles will be allowed in these areas
  • Our bell times have changed this year:
  • Monday to Thursday 8:43 to 3:10
  • Friday 8:43 to 12:33

Thursday September 11, 2025

5:30 – 6:30 Come join us for Meet the Teacher night. Classrooms will be open for you to visit with your child and meet the teacher. This is not an interview, rather the opportunity to see where you child spends their day, find out some key information about how the class operates and introduce yourself to the teacher. To help with the flow of families and so everyone gets an opportunity to chat we would like to ask that the families with last names beginning A through L come a t 5:30 and families with names beginning with M though Z come at 6:00. Thanks for your cooperation!

 From School Council

On behalf of the School Council, I’d like to welcome you to the 2025/26 school year at DRBS!
We’re looking forward to another great year with exciting events and educational enhancements for our kids. We hope you are too!
Please join us at the first School Council meeting in the Launchpad, 6:45pm, Tuesday, September 16th.  We will hear from the school administration and staff about the upcoming year and will discuss upcoming Council events, volunteer opportunities, and more.

Come volunteer with us!
The school community relies on volunteers to do all the great things that make DRBS such a fantastic place. Please consider giving some of your time to support events and activities at the school. There are many opportunities to contribute starting from less than an hour per month.
We are looking for volunteers for the following:
• Work Bee Coordinator and Helpers
• Council Vice Chair
• Council Secretary
• Special Events Coordinator
• Fundraising Coordinator
• Hug & Go Coordinator and Volunteers
And there will be opportunities throughout the year to volunteer for special events, field trips, sports day, and more.

If you would like to volunteer for any of these positions or want more information, contact Nick at drbscouncilchair@gmail.com.

Hug ‘n’ Go!
If you’re dropping your child(ren) off Hug ‘n’ Go runs from 8:28–8:43am.
DO NOT PARK in front of the school during morning drop off! Please drive slowly and pay close attention to crosswalks.

We’d love to have you join our morning Hug ’n’ Go team!
Volunteer Timeframe: 8:23–8:43am
Arrival (8:23am): This gives you a 5-minute window to:
• Buzz into the school
• Pick up your vest & cones
• Walk to the Hug ’n’ Go spot and set up
It’s a quick and fun way to start the morning while helping keep things safe and smooth for our students!

Any questions about Hug 'n' Go can be sent to drbshugandgo@gmail.com
