• 2:30 Survey preview for parents – over the next 10 days CBE students from grades 4 through 6 will be completing the OURSchool survey. This survey is completed every year and the results are used to support us in programing.  A letter was sent home this week informing parents. If you would like to see the questions, please join us at 2:30 to preview the survey.

Secret Path Week

Secret Path week occurs every year from October 17th - 22nd. It is a national movement commemorating the legacies of Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack. To honour this legacy, DRBS will participate in our own Walk for Wenjack Wednesday, October 16th. This is a meaningful event where our school community will come together to walk in memory of Chanie Wenjack, a young Indigenous boy who tragically lost his life while trying to escape a Canadian residential school. This is a beautiful reminder that all children matter. Every unique culture, language, and heritage is honoured in our school.

This event connects to many of our curricular outcomes including the following:

Grade 1 – Social Studies: Develop age-appropriate behaviour for social involvement as responsible citizens contributing to their community.

Grade 2 – Social Studies: Participate in activities that enhance their sense of belonging within their school and community.

Grade 3 – Social Studies: Demonstrate an awareness of and interest in the beliefs, traditions and customs of groups and communities other than their own.

Grade 4 – Social Studies: Recognize how stories of people and events provide multiple perspectives on past and present events.

Grade 5 – Wellness: Examine how life experiences can shape understanding over time.

Grade 6 – Wellness: Involvement in a variety of activities can provide opportunities for personal development.

Hug and Go Volunteers Needed - Volunteer shifts can be as little as 20 minutes a week! Contact Miguel at drbshugandgo@gmail.com with any questions or to volunteer. 

Vacant Council Positions - We are seeking a Fun Lunch Co-Coordinator. Contact Jamie-Lynn at drbscouncilchair@gmail.com with any questions about getting involved with the school council.

Halloween Dance is taking place on October 18 at Strathcona Community Association from 5:30pm – 8:30pm with a staggered entry suggested as follows: 

5:30pm Kindergarten and Grade 1

6:00pm Grade 2-3

6:30PM Grade 4 -6

Tickets are available for purchase ($15) through Healthy Hunger and are limited.

School Council Meeting - The next DRBS School Council and Development Association Meeting will be held on Tuesday October 15 from 6:45 - 8:15 pm in the Launch Pad.
