Reminders/Shout outs
o Student Learning Conferences will be student led and take place Thursday March 21 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Friday March 22 from 8:00 am to 1:00pm. This is your chance to come and see how your child is doing and meet with their teacher. As these are student led these are the only times available. If you are planning to be away the teachers will not be able to book meetings on other days. The format involves having several stations set up so your child can celebrate their learning with you. One of the stations will be a chance to meet with the teacher and discuss any questions you may have about your child’s progress. We recognize that having conferences the day before the break makes it easier for those who are travelling to leave early, however the date is out of our control as it is set for us. Thanks in advance for you cooperation and understanding.
o Please remember there is no supervision on the playground before 8:15 in the am. There are a number of children being dropped off and in the cold weather this could be dangerous.

School Council News
Book Fair Volunteers Needed - The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is happening March 18-22nd! It is a great school fundraising event for kids and volunteers. Last fall, we raised over $4K for school resources. Without volunteers this event cannot take place. Our new librarian will be leading the fair. This is a good opportunity for you to meet her. Yearbook Coordinator Needed - School Council is looking for a Yearbook Coordinator! If this position is not filled then there will be no yearbook for the 2022-2023 school year. You will not be expected to do the entire job alone, contact Jacqui at drbscouncilchair@gmail.com for more information.
Outdoor Learning Space Phase 2 - On Wednesday Feb 28 a survey was sent out to gather feedback on how to spend grant money that was awarded to our school specifically for outdoor space development. The survey was created after reviewing information gathered from families, students and teachers last year (during the 2022/23 school year) as well as meeting with school administrative staff, and the items listed were selected as priorities for the next phase of outdoor/playground development at DRBS. In addition, please note that the older, small “tot lot” playground (with wood chip ground covering) has been identified by CBE as past its lifespan and needs to be replaced within one year.
